Our one show of the year – it was a great success thanks to all the help I had from friends, riders, and especially Cecil – for his enduring patience and forethought and capability.

Although Tyrant’s first class was a disappointment – placing 3rd in the Justin Morgan Standard Class – which just stuns me when that happens – he gave 100% in ten more classes!  It was a thrill to see him place second, deferring to his winning daughter Harwich Mayfly, in the Working Hunter Warm-Up on Friday morning.  Mayfly and her owner/rider Lindsay Eckert continued on to win in all three Working Hunter Over Fences classes, and Tyrant followed her around the rest of the courses with rider Kim Sobek.  Working Hunter Under Saddle also had a large field of competitors, with Mayfly pinning second and Tyrant third.

Tyrant next geared up for his dressage tests, with a warm-up in Western Pleasure Novice Horse, ridden by Lori Witt and looking quite credible for his first Western outing.  By Training Level III, Kim and Tyrant placed first in that division.

There were 14 horses competing for the High Point Sport Horse award from a total of four divisions.  After a grueling two days of competition, Tyrant emerged as Reserve Champion Sport Horse – with the additional pride of knowing that his daughter Mayfly and her very talented owner, Lindsay, were the Grand Champion Working Hunter pair!

Missalette Farm currently has two of Tyrant’s colts for sale – a very smart yearling, and a nice big 2 y.o.
